The Armor of GOD

we are clothed with the POWER and the ANOINTING of GOD, we should never go out that door much less get out of bed in the mornings without being FULLY CLOTHED in it to GUARANTEE a fully and completely VICTORIOUS PRAYERS ANSWERED every single day of your life. TODAY IS TOO THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE! GO FOR IT! AMEN!

The Armor of God
Let me try and describe the situation many Christians, including myself until recently, are in.

Many Christians are either trying their very best to live a godly life, or they are on the point of giving up hope of ever achieving this, or they have already given up, thinking that it will probably not happen until they arrive in heaven (all the while hoping that they will, and that God will be so gracious as to allow them in anyway, although they may not have been very successful as Christians down here).

This may be a harsh way of putting it, but if it is the truth, acknowledge it. Changing your way of life starts by acknowledging the truth about your present condition as a Christian.

The question is: what to do?

The answer is: put on the whole or full armor of God, and become fully satisfied with what God has for you!!!!!!!

Get a good taste of what He has for you, and you'll never want to change back to your old defeated lifestyle of sinning, and sinning again and sinning again and again.

How do you put on the full armor of God?

Read that portion of Scripture in Ephesians chapter 6, verses 10-18. Taken from the New International Version, it reads as follows:

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with whicht you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."

As you carefully study this portion of Scripture, you will find that, in verse 10, Paul starts out by describing the necessity of the full armor, but he starts his detailed description of it in verse 14.
And very interestingly, the first detail of the armor is tied up with the last: the sword of the Spirit (verse 17b).

Before you continue you should notice something else. In verses 13 and 14 we find the word 'stand' three times. Nowhere does this portion of Scripture talk about attacking. You can bet your last dime that you will be approached and attacked once you take your stand in Christ.
But why is that you do not have to go out there and conquer? Simply because it has all been won for you already! All you need to do is plant your feet firmly on your inheritance in Christ and claim and possess it.

Now why is the girdle or belt of truth so important?

Simply because it keeps the breastplate in place!

The belt of truth
Picture a Roman soldier in the midst of battle, not wearing his belt (because in the hurry before battle he forgot to put it on), jumping to and fro to avoid being pierced by the enemy, holding up his shield with one arm and his sword with the other, all the while trying to hit his opponent.

What do you think the breastplate, protecting his heart and other vital organs, will do? Most probably it will swing from left to right, away from his body and back, but seldom in place to do what it was for: to shield.

At times he will be inclined to press his breastplate against his body, but if he does so with only one arm he will either be unable to lift his shield or use his sword. And if he tries to keep it in place with both arms, he will be giving up both the extra protection of the shield and his sword to ward off enemies!

So it is clear how very important it is that he wear his belt. The belt seems to us like a very passive instrument, his sword or his shield appearing much more active, and therefore much more important in battle. But without his belt he is practically debilitated, without it he is a danger to himself and his fellow soldiers, and certainly no danger to his adversaries.

He is useless without his belt.

Paul says to put on the belt of truth. Peter says (1 Peter 1:13) that God's elect should "brace up their minds" (the Amplified Bible). The Dutch Bible says it even more clearly: "... gird about the loins of your mind ...".

So what it is the truth, or the belt of truth?

It is all the things that the Word of God says that have been done for you in Christ.

And all you need to do is meditate in them daily, speak them out loud and think on them as you speak.

You will find that the belt of truth is automatically girded about the loins of your mind, the breastplate is in place and you are free to use your shield and sword.

And no sooner!!

Your feet fitted
Shoes are a protection against immediate contact with the outside world.

The shield of faith
A Roman shield was covered in leather which was immersed in water before battle, so the soldier could put out firy arrows with it.

Water is a type of the Holy Spirit here.

[*ever see a Roman Sheild? it ain't no puny wittle ole round thingy, no things are BIG guys built to handle ALL attacks of their enemies, A sinlge Roman soldier could crouch down behind it and be totally protected from all comers, When a full cohort crouched down behind a whole line of these sheilds, they had the abilitity to lock togehter where no weapon of the enemy could penetrate. they were unbeatable! when troubles and attacks of the devil come along, you just pull in behind your shield of FAITH and crouch down in GOD and put that "hand" out in front of travesties faces. I AM STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT, I HAVE FAVOR WITH GOD AND MAN, NO WEAPON IS EVEN FORMED AGAINST ME. I EXERCISE MY GOD GIVEN AUTHORITY AND CALL FORTH THE ANSWERS FROM THE WORD OF THE LIVING GOD IN ME TO MEET MY EVERY NEED. I DO NOT TOLERATE PROBLEMS OVERWHELMING ME ANY MORE, I ATTACK THEM AND PUT THEM TO FLIGHT. I HAVE THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWING OF HIM AND HAVE THE ANSWERS TO EVERY SITUATION OF MY LIFE IN THE POWER OF MY TONGUE IN HIM! ]


The helmet of salvation
Have you ever had this experience that you could not see the wood for the trees?

You can look for something, even while it stares you in the face, and not see it.

You remember, if you have read the other pages on this site on the Armor of God, that it took me a long time to discover the truth about the Shield of faith. It was the same way with the helmer of salvation.

The helmet protects my mind, my thoughts, the main battle field where we meet our adversary.

God has created us in such a way that we can only think of one thing at a time, consciously anyway. And this fact comes to help us here. If we can fill our minds with the thoughts from Scripture, no other thoughts can enter our minds.

If we regularly fill our minds with the Word, we can even push wrong thoughts out of our minds by grabbing hold of God's Word.

Every time we read the Word, think the things in it, meditate in it, we put on the helmet of salvation and block out other thoughts from our minds.

Our brains, where, I still believe, most of our thoughts originate, are part of our flesh. It is the supreme way the enemy can control our flesh, if he can control our thinking.

If we can kick him out of there, we deprive him of his chief influence in and hold over our lives.

[That helmet is the action of our faith in our own minds, keeping the WORD first and foremost in our brains. Ancient Jews and many today, some still actually wear a little box on their foreheads filled with sayings from the Torah that are important to them. For us it means KEEP THAT WORD BEFORE YOU 24/7 Joshua 1:8, this book of the law, God's living Word and PROMISES and answers from HIM will NOT depart out of my mouth but I DO MEDIATE swallow pursue, study, listen to, speak out loud, devour and assilmilate, in it day and night and night and day and study to show myself approved and workman who need not be ashamed ... and I observe to do all that is written therein therefore I WILL make my way prosperous, full up, overflowing and filled to completion, lacking nothing in any area of my life and full of HIM and therefore I HAVE success in life!]

The Sword of the Spirit
The Sword of the Spirit works exactly the same way it does with God Himself! He created by speaking. His Word is a word of authority. It does not matter whose mouth that word emits from. If it is His Word it will carry His authority. If you speak it, God's authority will work through it.

You were created in His image. You are supposed to be like Him, creating your own victory with your tongue. There are many verses in the Bible that state this. Remember that there was a sharp two-edged sword coming from Jesus' mouth according to Revelation 1:16? That is a picture of you, His follower.
James states that our tongues are to be a blessing!
The Proverbs say that life and death are in the power of the tongue!
It is a two-edged sword because it will cut in your own life as well as in the world surrounding you, both spiritual and natural!

[the full potential of GOD is released into your life as you declare and shout the WORD of GOD in the face of all opposition, speak to your self in the mirror daily, pronounce to the world and to your own mind WHO YOU ARE IN HIM, and all that He has promised is yours, announce, declare, claim, point out to all comers that God your God is alive and well and living in YOU and YOU are His Child and CHOSEN VESSEL for this generation, Oh YES indeed each and every one of us are called into HIS Ministry in us to the world, we each have His fullest capablities and potential inside of us through Him living and dwelling in our hearts, we are His CHILDREN and MIGHTY SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD. It doesn't matter what YOU don't think you have, know better in GOD because in Him We LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus our Lord and Master, our bread, our provider, our Saviour not just the salvation of our hearts but the Greek word Sojos means fullness and completion and salvation and healing and prosperity, YES prosperity the come satisfaction from His Heart to yours in EVERY area of our lives, not just our souls, God's Best is for YOU to be Blessed AND a Blessing to others. what you do or do not have at this moment, what you think you are or aren't doesn't matter, the FACT is HE SAYS you CAN do ALL things throught CHRIST who strengthens and empowers and uses you as His Authorative vessel fully invested with ALL ALL HIS power and authority and ABILITY TO call forth His ways into this mortal realm in all that WE need for each day and our futures which are bright and lovely and fullfilled in Him. and that's another posting to come!]

When you see in the Word that you are in Christ Jesus, that you are in Him, then DELCARE HIS TRUTHS with all your heart. Then you will be strong, - to the pulling DOWN of strongholds - standing in a point of authority and operating in your inheritance in Him.
